LECTURE: MOTHER IN CHRIST BY PROPHETESS B. BALOGUN

Introduction

Psalm 139:14– “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made…”

Every child carries the DNA of the parents. In the same way, a mother in Christ must carry the spiritual DNA of God. She is not just a biological mother—she is a spiritual vessel, a nurturer of destiny, and a builder of generations.

A mother in Christ reflects the nature, character, and heartbeat of God. Today, we look at the qualities that shape such a mother.

1. A Mother in Christ Must Be Born Again
Before a woman can mother others in the faith, she must first encounter Jesus.
Christian motherhood starts with a personal relationship with Christ. Salvation shapes her decisions, her speech, her priorities, and her walk with God.

2. She Is Spiritually Grounded
A mother in Christ feeds on the Word. She prioritizes:

*   Bible study
*   Prayer
*   Kingdom service

Her strength comes from the Word of God. Her faith grows as she studies the Scriptures. She cannot give her children what she does not possess spiritually.

3. She Maintains a Consistent Prayer Life
A true mother in Christ knows that prayer is not optional—it is survival.
She prays for wisdom, direction, and the grace to parent well.
Proverbs 15:16 reminds us that life is better with the fear of God.

Before she speaks to people about her children, she speaks to God about her children.

4. She Shows God’s Love Without Compromise
She stands on the truth of God’s Word. She loves deeply, forgives quickly, and lives sacrificially.
Her children learn God’s love through her actions.

5. She Lives a Life of Contentment
1 Timothy 6:6; Philippians 4:11–14
Contentment protects the heart from jealousy, envy, and comparison.
A Christian mother focuses on holiness—
in thoughts, words, behavior, and lifestyle.

She pays attention to her family and avoids the trap of greed.

6. She Builds Her Home
Proverbs 14:1– “A wise woman builds her house…”
A mother in Christ partners with God to build her home with wisdom, prayer, and intentionality.
She understands that every decision shapes the atmosphere of her house.

7. She Prays for Her Children
Daily, fervently, and intentionally.
She prays:
*   for their salvation
*   for their future
*   for their purity
*   for their divine protection
*   for their destiny

Her prayers become spiritual shields over their lives.

8. She Trains Her Children in the Way of the Lord
Train up a child…
She teaches them Scripture, prayer, respect, discipline, and responsibility.
She never curses her children.
She nurtures them with love and firmness.

Her children learn God because they see God in her.

9. She Helps Them Discover Their Purpose, Talents & Gifts
Titus 2:3–5, Isaiah 54:13, 2 Timothy 1:5
A mother in Christ observes her children carefully. She encourages their gifts, supports their dreams, and guides them toward God’s purpose.

She introduces them to prayer early and models it before them.

10. She Exhibits Love, Kindness & Patience
She embodies empathy, compassion, and emotional strength.
Even in correction, her love is visible.
She remains patient because she trusts God’s timing.

Her weapon is prayer. Her anchor is Scripture.

11. She Lives with Integrity
Her identity is rooted in Christ.
She is the same in public and in private.
Her life becomes a testimony to her children.

12. She Is a Disciple Maker
Her first ministry is her home.
She wins her children to Christ.
She teaches them to delight in the Word.
She models worship, faith, and obedience.

13. She Seeks Godly Counsel
She does not rely on her own wisdom.
She remains teachable and humble.
She surrounds herself with godly mentors.

14. She Serves Freely in God’s House
She serves joyfully—not grudgingly.
She uses her gifts, talents, and time for the kingdom.

15. She Serves Her Family as Unto the Lord
Proverbs 31:13–19
She works with excellence.
She doesn’t wait for motivation.
She takes responsibility for her home and loves her family sacrificially.

16. She Leaves a Godly Legacy
This is the crown of motherhood.
A mother in Christ leaves behind:
*   a faith that endures
*   a life that inspires
*   a testimony that continues
*   children who know Jesus

Her greatest inheritance to her children is not wealth, but Christ.

Conclusion
A mother in Christ is not perfect—but she is yielded.
She depends on God daily.
She carries the DNA of her heavenly Father.
She builds generations through faith, prayer, and godly character.

May the Lord raise more mothers like this in our homes, churches, and communities in Jesus’ name. Amen
